Silverwood’s memorable two years in charge

 

The Club are indebted to the efforts of Chris Silverwood over the past two seasons as Head Coach. Since taking up the role in December 2015, Essex fans have become familiar with that winning feeling, especially in the Specsavers County Championship. During his tenure, the side has totalled a 53.1% win percentage rate across 34 matches in 4-day cricket, which equates to 18 wins, 13 draws and just 3 defeats.

Chris’ first season in charge saw the team progress to two Quarter-Finals in the Royal London One-Day Cup and NatWest T20 Blast, whilst dominating Division Two and brining the title back to Chelmsford. Few people predicted the team’s success the following year and Silverwood was instrumental in bringing a strong winning mentality and team ethos into the dressing room. This year’s triumphs, which saw a first County Championship title in 25 years and an undefeated season, will go down in history as one of finest ever witnessed.
