You can now vote for your DeVines Player of the Month for June with three contenders nominated for the award. Essex were in lethal red-ball form in June, picking up two wins and a draw and climbing the Specsavers County Championship Division One table.
Alastair Cook:
Alastair Cook showed his experience and class during the Championship match against Somerset at the end of the month. On a low-scoring wicket, he stuck around for long periods and got the highest Essex scores in both innings (80 & 47), which propelled the side towards a vital win against our top of the table rivals.
Simon Harmer:
Simon Harmer claimed the DeVines Player of the Month in May and carried his electric form into June. Against Hampshire at The Cloudfm County Ground, he took five wickets in the first innings and seven in the second, finishing the match with figures of 12-61. He also chipped in with a couple of wickets against both Yorkshire and Somerset.
Jamie Porter:
Jamie Porter ended the month with 17 Championship wickets, three more than fellow bowler Simon Harmer. Porter picked up a 5-fer in the first innings against Somerset and claimed four more in the second innings as his side won by 151 runs. Like Harmer, he was heavily responsible for the success the Club enjoyed in June and he’ll be looking to carry that form on into the second half of the campaign.
Voting closes at 5PM on Tuesday 16 July with the presentation taking place on Friday 19 July during the Vitality Blast fixture with Surrey at The Cloudfm County Ground.
