Essex Eagles v Gloucestershire
Vitality Blast
Saturday 27 July
The Cloudfm County Ground, Chelmsford
Essex Eagles Team: No team named
Gloucestershire Team: No team named
Umpires: Neil Bainton & Nicholas Cook
Result: Match abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Match Report:
The match between Essex Eagles and Gloucestershire was abandoned without a ball being bowled following persistent rain.
Umpires Neil Bainton and Nick Cook took a cursory look at the soggy conditions at 8pm, an hour after the scheduled start , and wasted no time in calling the game off.
Both teams take a point each from the match.
This particular fixture in the calendar at Chelmsford seems jinxed; it is now the third time in as many seasons that the teams have failed to get onto the field.
The weather also intervened at Cheltenham last year where the Essex innings was interrupted after 18.2 overs because of rain and the weather prevented any further action.
The Eagles will hope for better fortune in their next Vitality Blast fixture when they are scheduled to meet Hampshire at The Cloudfm Ground on Thursday.
