On Monday 01, Tuesday 02 & Wednesday 03 August we were delighted to host the annual participation event – Mini Match Play – at the Cloud County Ground, kindly supported by Allen Ford.
With 54 teams and over 500 children taking part across the course of the three nights, the softball cricket games allowed boys and girls from across the county and East London to play at the home of Essex Cricket.
Along with receiving a free shirt to say thank you for their participation in the event, children got to experience what it’s like when professionals go out to bat as they got to walk down the steps from the changing room onto the ground.
Teams were able to play against new opposition from other parts of Essex and have their team photos taken by the club photographer.
Current Eagles Kelly Castle and Ben Allison also made an appearance, to give the children some useful tips and tricks to help develop their skills.
Having had many past and present Essex players involved in the event over the years, we can’t wait to see who will be making their professional debut in the next 10 years.
