Sachin Sagger’s century was not enough for Loughton as Wanstead & Snaresbrook lifted the Trevor Bailey Matchplay Trophy with a six-wicket win in the final at The Cloud County Ground.
Sagger struck an unbeaten 108 from 114 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes, and batted for just shy of two and a half hours to underpin his side’s eventual total of 209-9.
It was not, however, enough to defeat Wanstead & Snaresbrook, who chased the score down with 2.4 overs to spare as opener Sulayman Tahir top-scored with 71.
Sagger’s innings had earlier helped Loughton recover from 122-7, with Tarun Sharma’s 3/17 from eight overs leading the way with the ball for Wanstead & Snaresbrook.
