Essex Women Set for Historic First Professional Match at Chelmsford

This Sunday marks a momentous occasion in the history of Essex Cricket as the Club prepares to host the professional Essex Women’s side for the first time at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground.

Essex Women will take on Warwickshire Women in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, with the fixture set to be a landmark moment for the Club and the wider game. It follows Wednesday’s opening clash in the competition – the first professional outing for the side – and now attention turns to bouncing back with a strong performance against the Birmingham-based side.

Head Coach Andy Tennant and his side will be aiming to get an opening win in the 50-over competition, and looking forward to returning to Chelmsford this weekend. Tennant, said: “Sunday’s match is a historic occasion for everyone associated with the Club. We’re incredibly proud to be playing in front of our home support at Chelmsford for the first time and we’d love to see as many people as possible coming down to get behind the team.

“It’s an important moment, not just for our players, but for the future of the women’s game in our county, and we hope it inspires a new generation.”

Supporters are encouraged to come along and be part of this exciting new chapter for Essex Women, and tickets are available to buy online now or on the gate from 9:30am, with play scheduled to begin at 10:30am.
