Essex Cricket are delighted to announce that all-rounder Paul Walter has signed a new deal with the Club until the end of the 2028 season.
The tall batting all-rounder has opened the batting this season in the Rothesay County Championship and has had incredible success, scoring 495 runs at an average 61.87.
A product of the Academy, Paul Walter signed his first professional contract with the Club in June 2016 and made his debut that season.
Walter has featured for the Club on 193 occasions across all-formats, scoring over 5000 runs at an average of 31.03, with 26 half-centuries and four centuries. The batting all-rounder has also taken 110 wickets in Essex colours providing more than enough quality with the ball in hand.
The left-arm all-rounder was presented with his County Cap in September 2023 during a four-day match against Hampshire in Chelmsford.
After putting pen to paper on his new deal, Paul Walter said: “I’m delighted to sign this contract extension with Essex and hope that we can collectively go on to win more silverware together in the coming years.
“As a Billericay boy, I’ve now been at the Club for over a decade, and I love playing my cricket at Chelmsford.
“The Essex fans are brilliant supporters, and I’ll continue to work hard to put in performances that contribute to success and repay their faith.”
Director of Cricket Chris Silverwood added: “We are really happy that Paul has agreed to extend his contract at the Club.
“He is a core member of the squad, providing quality with both bat and ball in all formats and we hope he continues showcasing his skills in Essex colours for the years to come.
“I am pleased he has agreed to commit his future to the Club.”
