Essex Cricket are happy to share that Essex Women’s young seam bowler Esmae MacGregor has signed a contract extension with the Club, transitioning from a rookie-deal to a senior professional.
The 21-year-old has signed a new two-year deal with Essex Cricket that will keep her at the Club until the end of the 2027 season.
MacGregor enjoyed an outstanding 2025 season, claiming multiple Player of the Month awards before collecting both the Women’s Players’ Player of the Year and Women’s Young Player of the Year at the Essex Cricket End of Season Awards.
On signing her new deal, MacGregor said: “I am really excited to be continuing my journey with Essex Cricket.
“The Club has been a huge part of my development since I was 15-years-old and I am incredibly grateful for the support I have had from the coaches and my teammates along the way.
“I am looking forward to continuing to learn, grow and play my part in what’s ahead for this group over what will hopefully be a really successful period for the Club.”
The right-arm seamer’s incredible debut season in professional cricket saw her take a total of 40 wickets across 28 fixtures in all competitions. Twenty-one of those came in eleven Blast matches, the most by any player across all counties during the group stage, at a superb average of 13.38, with best figures of 4–8.
Esmae’s performances for Essex Women deservedly earned her a place in the 2025 Hundred competition, where she was selected as a Wildcard pick by the Manchester Originals.
Essex Women’s Performance Director, Danni Warren said: “I am delighted that Esmae has agreed to continue her journey with Essex.
“Esmae typifies the Club, having joined at a young age and progressed through the age groups and for our members to be able to support her through the best phase of her career is fantastic.
“For those outside of Essex Cricket, she had a breakout year in 2025 and for those who have seen her talent first hand know this was no surprise.
“I am really looking forward to seeing Esmae achieve her ambitions over the coming years.”
