Essex Cricket proudly marked the 150th anniversary with celebrations at Chelmsford Cathedral and Shire Hall on 14 January 2026.
The day's celebrations included an Anniversary Service at Chelmsford Cathedral, followed by a ceremonial reading and proclamation at Shire Hall. The afternoon was attended by former and current players, coaches, staff, members, supporters and partners of Essex County Cricket Club. Also in attendance were BBC and ITV News outlets for BBC Essex, Look East, and London as well as ITV Anglia & Meridian.
The service at the Cathedral provided a moment of reflection and celebration of Essex County Cricket Club as a plethora of memories were shared between everyone who attended.
On the events at the Cathedral and Shire Hall, Dan Feist, Essex Cricket's Chief Executive Officer, said: "150 years of magic memories, moments, and celebrations all came together and I'd like to give a huge thank you to everyone that has been a part of that.
"To our members, supporters, players, coaches, staff, and partners, a huge thank you in helping to make the Club as successful as it is and we look forward to the next 150 years."
Chris Silverwood, Essex Cricket's Director of Cricket, added: "I'd like to say a massive thank you to everybody who turned out to help us celebrate 150 years of Essex County Cricket Club. It was a brilliant turnout and let's hope for a great 2026."
