Essex County Cricket Club would like to extend their warmest wishes to our Club President, John Lever MBE, who turns 77 today.
John's name is etched into the fabric of the Club's history, as one of the finest cricketers to ever wear the Essex badge. His commitment, skill, and competitive spirit helped define an era that set standards that continue to inspire players and supporters alike.
At the start of 2026, John was announced as the Club's President, succeeding former teammate and captain, Keith Fletcher OBE.
A proud ambassador for the Club, John remains a familiar and welcome figure around Chelmsford, always generous with his time, stories, and encouragement for the next generation.
