Essex Cricket are thrilled to announce that Essex Men’s batter Jordan Cox has signed a contract extension with the Club.

Cox, 25, has signed a two-year contract extension which will keep him at Essex until the end of the 2028 season.

The right-handed batter has been an influential part of the Essex Men’s side since joining from neighbouring county Kent ahead of the 2024 season. A key figure across both red-ball and white-ball cricket, Cox will now remain at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground for at least the next two seasons through to the conclusion of the 2028 season.

On signing his new deal, Cox said: "I am really happy to extend my contract here with Essex. We have built a strong group both on and off the field, and I believe we are building towards success for ourselves and our fans.

"The support from our Members and supporters has been fantastic, and I am grateful for the faith the Club has shown in me.

"I am excited to continue my journey here, keep contributing to the team's ambitions, and help bring more memorable moments to Chelmsford and the Club in the years ahead."

Cox has represented Essex in 19 first-class matches, scoring more than 1500 runs at an incredible average of 62.72. The right-handed batter has registered seven centuries and four half-centuries for the Club, with a career-best 207 coming against his former side.

The 25-year-old has also amassed more than 500 runs in 18 T20 appearances for Essex, including a superb unbeaten 139 against Hampshire Hawks last season. Averaging 36.46 in T20’s for the Club, Cox's white-ball performances in 2025 earned him a place with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru franchise for the 2026 IPL.

During his time at the Club, the wicket-keeper batter has earned international recognition with England Men’s white-ball squads, playing in six T20Is and three ODIs. Cox has also received call-ups to the England Test squad, although is yet to make his Test debut due to untimely injuries.

Most recently, Jordan was part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team that won the 2026 IPL title.

Essex Cricket’s Director of Cricket, Chris Silverwood added: “Jordan has made an outstanding impact since joining the Club and we are obviously beyond delighted to secure his future at Essex.

“He’s a high-quality player who has already shown his ability across all formats, and at just 25-years-old there is still plenty more to come from him.

“His attitude, professionalism and hunger to improve have been excellent, and we believe he will continue to play a major role for Essex over the coming seasons.

“We are looking forward to seeing him build on what he has achieved so far, both at county level and on the international stage.”
