Essex Cricket are delighted to announce that Essex Men’s batter Charlie Allison has signed a new deal with the Club.
The Colchester-born batter has agreed a two-year extension that will keep him at Essex until the end of the 2028 season.
An extremely talented batter, showcasing his skills across all formats for Essex Men, the 21-year-old has committed his next two seasons with his boyhood county. First honing his skills at Colchester & East Essex Cricket Club, Allison progressed through the Essex pathway and Academy before making his first-team debut away against Lancashire in the 2023 One Day Cup campaign.
On signing his new contract, Allison, said: “I have really enjoyed my first years here at Essex. I’ve loved every moment that I’ve put on the shirt to represent my county and play in front of such passionate Members and supporters.
“Hug [Tom Huggins] has been so supportive of me, he’s worked incredibly hard with me and has played a big part in helping me develop my game and get the best out of myself.
“Now, I want to help us take that next step. I want to win something with Essex and, utlimately, give something back to our fans who support us week in, week out. They deserve success, and that’s something I am really hungry to be part of.
“Thank you all so much for the support, I am delighted to extend my stay here in Chelmsford.”
At the age of 21, Allison has already represented Essex in 22 first-class matches, scoring 1394 runs at an average of 39.82 and a high score of 140. With four half-centuries and three centuries to his name, Essex supporters will be wishing to see this brilliant start to his career continue.
Learning his trade as an all-format player, Allison has been able to switch between both the red-ball and white-ball formats. Having featured in 31 T20 matches for the Club, the 21-year-old has scored 636 runs at an average of 30 with a high score of 74 and four half-centuries.
From 20 List A appearances for Essex, the right-handed batter boasts over 800 runs at a brilliant average of 42.42 with six half-centuries and one century which is his high score of 131.
