Essex batter Lissy Macleod has announced her retirement from cricket.
The 32-year-old has been a regular fixture at the top of the order for Essex Women since signing for the Eagles in January 2025. She went on to make 34 appearances for Essex in all competitions with a high score of 59 against Warwickshire Bears in this year's Vitality Blast Women's competition.
Prior to joining Essex at the inception of the two-tier model, Macleod played for Sunrisers for five-seasons. She was at the crease with her now captain Grace Scrivens when Sunrisers won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in 2024.
During her playing career, Macleod balanced the pressures of being a professional cricketer whilst holding the position of Head of Girls' Cricket at Felsted School, a role she will continue after retirement.
"It was awesome to be in that starting professional setup, but with the demands increasing and me having a job, it was that crunch time at 32 (years-old) where I was happy to put my feet up.
"Sunday's game was everything I could have ever dreamed of. The family being there, the girls being around me and being so supportive. It was the perfect way to finish."
