Essex Women's Amelie Bishop, Bryony Gillgrass and Clara Thacker selected for England Women's U19 World Cup squad and India series.
A 15-player squad has been named by England Women U19s for their biggest ever winter programme of cricket culminating in an ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Nepal and Bangladesh.
Following a series of training camps in the UK, the squad will travel to take part in a five-match T20 series against India in November/December 2026, and at its completion they will remain in India for a further week to continue their outdoor preparations for the ICC tournament in January/February 2027.
In what will be the competition’s third edition, Warwickshire’s Phoebe Brett is the only returning member of the previous 2025 squad, who lost out in the semi-finals to eventual winners India in Malaysia.
Having played her part during the preparations for the 2025 tournament as a non-travelling reserve, The Blaze’s Maria Andrews is a part of the full squad this time around. The five players who are non-travelling reserves for this World Cup, will take part in all training camps, including time in India after the T20 series.
Head coach Chris Guest said: “This is an exciting opportunity for this group of players who will be the best prepared squad we will have sent to the U19 Women’s World Cup.
"The aspiration as always is to win the U19 World Cup. Taking on board learnings from previous campaigns, we have gone about things slightly differently this time, ensuring that our players are getting some game time outdoors much closer to the tournament.
"The goals for the winter are dual focused. We want to win the World Cup, and we are also developing players and helping them prepare for what their career might look like in a professional environment."
A captain will be named at a later date.
