Essex Cricket in the Community's Kirby Jennings has been named the MCC Foundation Young Coach of the Year.
Kirby Jennings, ECIC's Community Cricket Activation Apprentice, has been awarded the Young Coach of the Year award for her work in the Thurrock MCC Hub. Working with the Under 14s and Under 17s squad since February, Kirby has successfully implemented a strength and conditioning programme for the players as part of their training.
Unaware that she was nominated, Kirby said receiving the winners email was completely unexpected and that she felt really proud of herself. As a former MCC Hub player, Kirby has taken what she has learnt over the years and applied it to her coaching, enabling her to help develop the next generation of Female cricketers.
Kirby travelled to Lord's earlier this month to receive her award with other MCC Foundation award recipients. After watching the MCCF Hub Finals from the Pavilion, Kirby was invited onto the pitch to collect her award. Upon receiving her trophy, Kirby said "the day was nerve wracking but very exciting and this award means everything. It mean's people are seeing what I'm doing."
