Essex Cricket are pleased to announce that Essex Women's wicket-keeper Amara Carr has signed a new contract with the Club.

Carr, 32, has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract that will keep her at Essex until the end of the 2028 season.

The agile wicketkeeper has been a regular presence in the Essex Women side, taking impressive dismissals behind the stumps and contributing valuable runs lower down the order.

On signing her new contract, Carr, said: "I am really happy to extend my contract with Essex.

”It's a fantastic here with great people and I have really enjoyed my time here so far. I am very grateful for the support Paz and the Club have given me as I continue to develop my game.

"We have an ambitious group of players and I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together over the next couple of years."

Since making her debut for Essex in 2025, Carr has made 23 List A and 13 T20 appearances scoring a total of over 300 runs for the Club. With the gloves, Carr has taken 17 catches and 12 stumpings.

During the 2026 season, Amara unfortunately sustained a serious leg injury during the 50-over clash against Somerset at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground in August. She was stretchered off after slipping while attempting a second run. The injury ruled her out for the remainder of the season, and she will continue her rehabilitation and physiotherapy throughout the off-season.

Essex Women’s Head Coach, Stephen Parry, added: “We are really happy to see Amara extend her stay with the Club, committing to Essex for the next two seasons.

“She is a valuable asset to our team, bringing experience both on and off the field, alongside her strengths behind the stumps. We’ve seen her produce some really impressive dismissals on numerous occasions.

“She is currently undergoing rehabilitation and physiotherapy following the injury she sustained during the season, so hopefully that continues to progress well over the winter, and we can see her back in an Essex shirt during the 2027 season.”
