Essex Cricket are pleased to share that Cath Dalton has agreed terms to become Essex Women’s Seam Bowling Lead.
Dalton, 33, was previously the Academy Bowling Coach, working closely with Essex Women’s up-and-coming bowlers. In her new role, she will take a leading position within the first-team setup under recently appointed Head Coach Stephen Parry.
On her new role at the Club, Dalton said: "Having come through the junior setup at Essex and spending several years playing for the Women's senior team, it's a privilege to step into the role of the Women's Seam Bowling Lead for the Essex Women's first team.
"My experiences representing Ireland internationally and playing for the England Academy have been invaluable, and it feels fitting to bring that back to the Club that gave me so many early opportunities and helped shaped my development.
"I am thoroughly looking forward to working with the talented group of bowlers we have in the squad."
Having represented Essex Women on nearly 50 occasions, Dalton brings a wealth of experience to the role. Her playing career spans domestic cricket with Essex, Middlesex, and Irish side Typhoons, and she also has international experience with Ireland in both T20 and ODI formats.
Dalton has made significant strides in coaching, most notably becoming the first female bowling coach appointed by a men’s franchise team when she joined Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League in October 2023.
Her appointment reflects Essex Women’s ongoing commitment to developing talent and enhancing the quality of coaching within the squad. She joins the coaching staff of new Head Coach Stephen Parry, which includes recently appointed Assistant Coach and Batting Lead Nick Browne.
On the appointment of Dalton, Director of Cricket Chris Silverwood said: "Cath's new role with Essex Women is a significant step forward and we are delighted that she has agreed to the new role.
"Her calibre as both a former international player and an innovative coach will see her bring a blend of experience, technical knowledge, and leadership to Essex Women.
"Cath has already had a tremendous impact within our Academy and Pathway, and we are delighted to see her take on the role as Seam Bowling Lead, under the guidance of Head Coach Stephen Parry."
