There’s no better way to start the year than indoor cricket finals.

At the beginning of the month, the Price Forbes Graham Gooch Indoor Centre hosted the 2026 Essex County Indoor Competition Semifinals and Final. The four teams looking to take the trophy back to their clubs and progress to the Regional Qualifiers were Brightlingsea CC, Buckhurst Hill CC, Little Bardfield Village CC and Springfield CC. It was a day of fierce competition with high batting scores, many boundaries hit and some incredible wickets taken.

Semifinal 1 - Springfield CC (134-2, 12 overs) v Brightlingsea CC (51-all out, 7.1 overs)
In the first semifinal, Springfield CC batted to an impressive 143-2 in their 12 overs against Brightlingsea CC. Brightlingsea CC then padded up and unfortunately lost all their wickets to end up with a final score of 51-all out in 7.1 overs. Match highlights included wickets from Brightlingsea’s Michael Barrenger and Ollie Hill, an impressive bowling spell from Springfield CC’s Rob Wickham 20-2 off 3 overs, and Aayush Salil topping the batting with 31 off 19.

Semifinal 2 - Buckhurst Hill CC (199-1, 12 overs) v Little Bardfield Village CC (165-5, 12 overs)
The second semifinal, Buckhurst Hill CC took on Little Bardfield Village CC. Buckhurst Hill CC batted in the first innings and scored a mighty 199, whilst only losing one wicket. Captain Prithviraj Sarvaiya went on to hit 48 runs for the team. Little Bardfield Village CC then responded with their openers, Callum Hymas and Will Slemmings, making 82 runs between them. Unfortunately, although an incredible attack in the batting, not forgetting Tom Graham’s 31 runs, the team fell short of their target by just 35 runs.

Final - Buckhurst Hill CC (185-3, 12 overs) v Springfield CC (118-all out, 10.1 overs)
In the last match of the day, the final saw Buckhurst Hill CC take on Springfield CC. With Springfield CC winning the toss and electing to field, Buckhurst Hill CC sent out their opening batters to the crease. The team scored 185-3, which saw top scores from Ryan Karunakaran with 47* and Daniel Platt with 41*. In the field, Rob Wickham and Charlie Prudence both took a wicket.
The second innings was just as exciting with Springfield CC’s opening batter Aarav Salil scoring the only half century of the day with 57 runs. The side then went on to make 118 runs before losing all their wickets. Prithviraj Sarvaiya took two wickets in three overs, Daniel Platt and Naivedyam Dwivedi both taking a wicket each.

Thank you to all who joined us at the event. Congratulations and good luck to Buckhurst Hill CC who will now travel to Kent to take part in the Regional Qualifiers.
