Essex Senior players, Mel Hussain, Neil Brathwaite, Phil Hillson, and Vince Mulholland have all been named in the England Over-60s World Cup squad.
The England 60s International Committee has announced a 16-player squad for August’s International Masters Cricket Over-60s World Cup in Canada. The squad was selected following an extensive trial process, which included a two-day training camp at Loughborough in March and an intra-squad match on 30 April.
The World Cup will take place from 09–23 August in Mississauga, Canada, with England aiming to improve on their runners-up finish at their maiden World Cup appearance in Chennai, India, two years ago.
The squad’s first outing together will be on 14 May against Scotland at Marton CC, with further fixtures against Wales (18 June) and an England Over-50s Lions side (24 July) before travelling to Canada.
Four Essex players have been selected to represent England in the tournament. Mel, the second-most capped player and third-highest run scorer in England 60s history, will serve as vice-captain.
Neil, who scored 61 in the fifth ODI of the Grey Ashes last summer, will be looking to build on his 15 England appearances since making his debut in 2022.
Phil and Vince are both yet to make their England debuts, but earned selection after impressing on the Lions’ winter tour to India.
