
Essex Cricket can announce that Matt Critchley and Jodi Grewcock have won the April Player of the Month Awards.
On the opening day of the men's season, Critchley struck 173 against Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl. He followed this up with a five-wicket haul in Hampshire's second innings to help secure a comfortable victory in the opening round of the County Championship. The all-rounder finished the match with figures of 5-9 from 4.3 overs to complement his 173 runs with the bat.
Critchley also impressed in the next three matches, scoring a half-century against Somerset at home (59) and taking further wickets against Surrey.
Matt's performances throughout April have earned him the WeFinanceAnyCar.com Men's Player of the Month Award.
Jodi Grewcock has enjoyed a brilliant start to the 2026 season, hitting two half-centuries in her first two matches (80 and 77) and coming close to making it three in a row in her third appearance. The all-rounder then smashed a match-winning unbeaten 120 against Somerset, her maiden professional century. With her leg-spin, she also claimed three wickets during April.
Jodi's performances throughout April also earned her the PCA Player of the Month Award. For Essex, she received a Tiptree hamper in recognition of her Player of the Month honour.
