A promising batsman, Rishi Patel graduated from the Academy in 2017, and after dominating the Second XI game, equalling Darren Robinson’s Club record of hitting 5 centuries in a Second Eleven Championship campaign, was brought into the First Team set up.

He made his Club debut against India in July 2019 and made his first-class debut against Essex on March 26 for his University side, Cambridge MCCU.

He later went on to play his first Championship match for the Club in the second match of the season, replacing the injured Ravi Bopara versus Surrey at the Kia Oval and hitting 31.
