Sophie Elizabeth Naseem Munro, born in Lincoln, signed for Essex Women from The Blaze ahead of the 2025 season. She started out with Nottinghamshire before a brief stint with Yorkshire Diamonds followed by The Blaze and then a loan spell with Sunrisers.
The right-arm seam bowler was prolific with the ball in her debut season with the Sunrisers in 2024 as she claimed 26 wickets in 16 games which included a return of 5-25 in just 6.2 overs at Chelmsford.
Her debut season for Essex Women in the 2025 season was blighted by a stress fracture injury which meant she only made four appearances – one in April and three in September. In those games she took 4 wickets and scored 66 runs which included an eye-catching knock of 36 not out off just 19 balls – including five fours and one six.
