Noah Robin Mostyn Thain was born in neighbouring county Cambridgeshire, in Huntingdon and joined the Essex Academy in 2021. Just one season later, Noah was awarded the Academy Player of the Year for 2022.
The all-rounder made his first team debut for Essex against Ireland in a first-class tourist match in 2023, where he took his first professional wicket in his fifth over and at the end of that season was named the Academy Player of the Year for the second season in a row.
Since then, Thain has stepped up and into the Essex first team in all competitions, playing regular first team cricket at such a young age. From the conclusion of the 2025 season, Thain has chalked up 19 first-class, 19 List A and 9 T20 appearances for Essex.
Bowling right-arm seam and batting in the lower middle-order as a right-handed batter, Thain has scored over 500 first-class runs for the Club and has taken 18 first-class wickets with his best of 3-94 coming against Worcestershire at New Road.
