Dan Lawrence heads off to Perth today on an ECB Overseas Placement.
The ECB are sending nine talented young players to the southern hemisphere to play grade cricket and work closely with Neil Holder, the batting coach renowned for his work with Justin Langer among many others. The 19-year-old will be joined in Perth by Glamorgan’s Aneurin Donald and Nottinghamshire’s Tom Moores.
The placements have a wider purpose – by exposing talented young players to an unsupported, unstructured cricket programme in a challenging overseas environment, the aim is to develop the skills and also independence required to be a successful international cricketer.
Lawrence is excited by the prospect of heading to Australia and said: “It is a great opportunity to head to Australia and further learn my trade.
“I have been to Australia before and it was a great experience so I am looking forward to going back. The standard is very high and it is great to test myself against different cricketers.”
