WATCH | Westley becomes 4th One-Day Cup centurion

The Eagles secured qualification into the knockout stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup by beating Somerset by 72 runs in Taunton. This was the sixth victory in the competition with the 8th and final match in the group stage taking place on Wednesday afternoon. Essex Eagles have to get 1 more point to guarantee a semi-final tie at The Cloudfm County Ground in mid-June.

The Essex innings was the third time that the 300 run mark had been reached with another different centurion leading the run scoring as Tom Westley struck a ton off 98 balls.

Westley spoke to Essex Cricket TV after play to reflect on the match and the current run the side are enjoying.

It was the perfect all-round performance and skipper, Ryan ten Doeschate also praised his sides efforts in the West Country as the Eagles overtook Somerset in the South Group and moved onto 12 points from a possible 14.
