Sir Alastair Cook Awarded in New Year’s Honours List

The Club are pleased to announce that Alastair Cook has received a knighthood in the New Year’s Honours.

Alastair was awarded a CBE in February 2017 and will now be knighted by the Queen – Arise Sir Alastair.

Cook, who celebrated his 34th birthday on Christmas Day, brought an end to his remarkable international career as England’s all-time leading run-scorer and the fifth-highest run-scorer in the history of the men’s Test game. This was before he committed his future to Essex for the next three years.

Cook – who delivered one of the moments of the summer by signing off with his 33rd and final Test ton.

Everyone associated with Essex County Cricket Club would like to congratulate Alastair on his fine achievement and looking forward to watching Sir Alastair Cook walk out at The Cloudfm County Ground in 2019.
