Club Statement: Peter Keith

Essex Cricket are saddened to hear of the passing of former Treasurer Peter Keith, aged 85.

Peter joined the Executive Committee at Essex Cricket in 1968, and served there for 10 years before being appointed Club Treasurer in 1978.

Under his guidance, the Club developed the private boxes, the executive suite and the tearoom at the ground. These renovations created vital revenue streams for the Club.

Peter served as Club Treasurer for a total of 25 years before retiring in 2003. During his retirement, he still came back to Chelmsford and attended matches as often as he could.

His funeral is being held at Chelmsford Crematorium on Wednesday 15 May at 2:30pm, which will be followed by the wake at Hyland’s House. Peter’s family would like to extend the invitation to those who knew him.

Everyone at Essex Cricket would like to pass on their deepest condolences to his family and close friends at this time.
