England Women Win First Royal London ODI Match

England Women were too strong for West Indies in the opening match of their Royal London ODI series, winning by 208 runs at Leicester.

England skipper Heather Knight scored 94 whilst Amy Jones, who was awarded the Player of the Match, dominated with the bat scoring 91 of England’s 318 runs.

Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 30 runs with West Indies being bowled out for 110 in 36 overs.

The victory takes England to 20 points in the ICC Women’s Championship table, and wins in the second and third ODI matches at Blackfinch New Road and The Cloudfm County Ground would all-but guarantee their qualification for the 2021 ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
