Club Statement: Mohammad Amir

Following the news that Mohammad Amir hasn’t yet received his UK sporting visa, Essex County Cricket Club would like to reassure Members and fans that all due process has been followed by both the Club and Amir’s team during this application.

John Faragher, Chairman at Essex Cricket, said: “This is an unforeseen circumstance and the Club are working closely to support Amir’s team to get the situation resolved as quickly as possible.

“We are just as disappointed as the fans to have not yet seen Amir in action against both Middlesex and Gloucestershire. As per his contract, he was always due to miss the fixtures against Surrey and Kent Spitfires, but we are extremely frustrated that he has now missed a further two Vitality Blast fixtures.

“We are in close contact with the Home Office and hopefully he will be able to make his return against Hampshire at The Cloudfm County Ground on Thursday 01 August.”
