Rymell Signs Rookie Contract

Essex County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Josh Rymell has signed a rookie contract with the Club running until the end of the 2020 season.

The 18-year-old made his first appearance for the Club’s age-group sides in 2015 and featured 19 times for the Second XI in 2019. He averaged 26.56 with the bat and his highest score of 87 came against Durham in a 50-over match at Chelmsford.

Rymell will continue to go through his rehabilitation programme over the next few months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury last August, and he is set to join the First Team in Abu Dhabi for the pre-season tour in March.

On signing his contract, Rymell said: “I’m absolutely over the moon to sign my first contract with Essex.

“It really means a lot to me and my family and I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in and learning from some of the best around.

“Hopefully this is the start of a long and successful journey for me with the Club.”
