Following the triumphant 2019 season on the field of play, the Club has now had one more reason to celebrate a memorable year after picking up the ‘Most Improved Matchday Experience’ award at the ECB’s annual Business of Cricket Awards.
The awards took place at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday evening and are hosted by the ECB each year to celebrate “good practice, sustained improvement, and innovative ideas help to create positive experiences for new and existing fans alike” across all 18 first-class counties and the MCC.
The ‘Most Improved Matchday Experience’ accolade is awarded to the Club who has demonstrated a commitment to improving the customer experience across the season with feedback gathered through customer surveys and assessments. The category focuses on aspects of a matchday, such as food & drink, stewarding, retail, atmosphere and all parts of the customer journey, and members of the Commercial team were in Southampton to pick up the award.

The Club are committed to continuing to develop the customer experience for every visitor to The Cloudfm County Ground with work already underway for the 2020 season. In addition to the new and improved floodlights currently being installed, there is also extensive reconfiguration work being carried out at the River Gate to allow wheelchair access, better lighting, and improved ingress/egress to the ground.
Other improvements include new and improved toilets which are being installed at the County Corner area of the ground, plus further enhancements to the matchday food & drink offering.
The Club were also commended on the night after being one of 3 nominees in the ‘Community Engagement Impact’ category. This submission focused on the successful Club to County campaign across the Club and Community teams, and well done to Somerset who were the winners of the award on the night.
