Watch: Gooch’s Wadham Stringer Trophy Memories

This weekend we’ve being looking back at some cricket with a twist for our Essex Archives feature. The Wadham Stringer Trophy was a 7-a-side indoor tournament won by Essex at the Brighton Centre in 1982, with the likes of Graham Gooch, John Lever and Ken McEwan featuring.

Following Saturday’s screening of the final on our YouTube channel, Graham spoke to Essex Cricket TV to reflect on his memories of the tournament, most of which included Ray East who took up the role of self-appointed Manager for the final!

We appreciate this isn’t a trophy triumph which lasted long in the memory for supporters during this golden era for the Club but it still stands pride of place in the trophy cabinet at The Cloudfm County Ground to this day!

You can still watch the highlights from the final against Kent – here.
