1000 Wickets in… The Story of Simon Harmer

 

Saturday 02 July 2022 saw Essex’s South African off-spinner, Simon Harmer, record his 1000th professional domestic wicket against Glamorgan as Essex Eagles qualified for the Vitality Blast Quarter-Finals.

Harmer has taken 1000 wickets spanning his 13-year long career, playing across two countries for four different sides; Eastern Province, Border and The Warriors in South Africa alongside his current six-year stint with Essex in England.

The 33-year-old has been lethal in all formats since making the move to Chelmsford, with his current numbers standing at 783 first-class wickets, 96 List A wickets and 121 T20 wickets.

Not including his 33 test wickets, Harmy has become only the sixth active player to reach this milestone showing his quality and place as one of the best bowlers on the county circuit.
