Essex County Cricket Club are excited to announce that Aaron Beard has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep him at The Cloud County Ground until at least the conclusion of the 2024 campaign.
The Chelmsford-born seamer, who came through the Essex Academy, has played 50 matches across all formats for the Club, taking 89 wickets at an average of 28.32.
The 24-year-old joined Sussex on loan earlier in the campaign and has been in superlative form since his return to Essex, especially in the Vitality Blast, taking career-best figures of 4/29 against Surrey last month.
Upon signing his extension, Beard said: “I’m really pleased to be staying at Essex for another two years and I hope I can repay the faith that’s been shown in me.
“It’s been a bit of a stop-start two years, but I’m feeling better than ever and I hope that’s shown with my performances in the last few months.
“Hopefully I can push on and carry on contributing to more victories and we can look to add some more trophies to the cabinet at Chelmsford.”
Essex Head Coach, Anthony McGrath, added: “Aaron can count himself unfortunate to have only played a handful of games for us over the last few seasons.
“He’s had a few injuries that have kept him out the side but now he’s back and firing on all cylinders it’s a joy to watch.
“He’s an extremely talented bowler and since returning to the First Team he has shown that he can be the difference between us winning and losing, so it’s great news he’s staying for at least another two years.”
