In memory of Roy Peaford (1931-2022)

The Club are saddened to hear of the passing of a former member of staff, Roy Peaford who died on Tuesday 9 August, aged 91.

Roy was the Club’s scoreboard operator for over 30 years and retired from the role at the conclusion of the 2016 season.

He was a much-loved member of staff at Chelmsford and a familiar face to many at our outgrounds when operating the renowned mobile scoreboard (pictured).

The players, staff and supporters paid tribute to Roy with a minute’s applause before play at Thursday’s Royal London Cup fixture against Kent Spitfires.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Roy’s family and friends, and he will forever be part of the Essex family for his support, passion and commitment to Essex County Cricket Club.
