There are just eight weeks to go until the 2023 season gets underway when Essex travel to Lords to take on recently promoted Middlesex in Round 1 of the County Championship, but the Essex squad are still hard at work around the world.

Dan Lawrence and the England Test squad have begun their preparation for the upcoming two match test tour out in New Zealand. The 25-year-old smashed 85 off just 55 balls against a New Zealand XI which included twelve fours and three sixes along the way to stake a claim for a spot in England’s starting XI when the series kicks off on February 16th.

In South Africa Adam Rossington and Sunrisers Eastern Cape have qualified for the semi-finals of the inaugural SA20. They take on the Joburg Super Kinds on Thursday afternoon with the winner booking their place in the final where they will face the Pretoria Capitals on Saturday afternoon.

Our wicket-keeper has also secured a spot in the Pakistan Super League for three fixtures at the beginning of March. After James Vince was selected in the England ODI squad to tour Bangladesh in the Spring, Rossington has been drafted in as a partial replacement.

Sam Cook also continues to work hard on the international stage as the 2023 season fast approaches. The bowler has featured twice for the England Lions as they take on a Sri Lanka XI in a 4-day series.

Jamal Richards has headed to Australia with his England U19 teammates for their tour, which will include four competitive white-ball matches for the all-rounder.

The England Men’s U19 multi-format tour to Australia is already underway, with the first of two four-day U19 Test matches at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field delicately poised after two days.
