Woodland Group’s ‘£1 per run’ campaign raises £1,250 for Panathlon Challenge

We’d like to say a huge thank you to our Principal Partner and front-of-shirt sponsor for the Vitality Blast T20 tournament, Woodland Group. Our long-standing partnership with the global logistics company began back in 2011 and we are extremely grateful for their support over the years.

Throughout this year’s T20 campaign, Essex Cricket supported Woodland Group‘s incredible effort in raising awareness of the national charity, Panathlon ChallengePanathlon gives thousands of young people with disabilities and special needs the opportunity to take part in competitive sports. With over 25 years of experience providing sporting competitions for a range of age groups from primary, secondary and over 16s, their inspiring work improves the lives of countless young people across the country as they gain confidence and enjoy sports they love.

Their competitive pathway begins with local events, leading to county, regional, divisional and finally national finals at prestigious Olympic and Paralympic venues. These provide special memories for everyone they support that they’ll treasure for a lifetime.

It has been a pleasure for the Club to provide Woodland Group with a platform to raise awareness of Panathlon. The global logistics company, headquartered in Chelmsford, also committed to donating £1 per run at every Essex Cricket home match, and thanks to the valiant efforts of the Eagles, consequently donated £1250 to support the charity’s all-important work. We can’t wait to hear how the funds raised will help provide new sporting experiences for young people with disabilities and special needs in the UK.

It is so important to everyone here at Essex Cricket that we work with partners that align with our own values, one of the most important being our work in the local community. The Club has a strong network throughout Essex and South East London running various pathways and programmes to allow more young people to play cricket.

County Cricket Clubs across the country are working hard every day to make cricket the most inclusive sport and we are so proud to be supporting Woodland Group alongside their charity partner Panathlon, who strive to make cricket accessible to young people living with disabilities and special needs. They inspire these children to pursue a career in sport, supporting their aspirations every step of the way.
