Jordan Cox nominated for PCA Young Player of the Year

Jordan Cox has been shortlisted for the Professional Cricketers’ Association Men’s Young Player of the Year award following a nationwide vote of professional players.

Players’ votes have resulted in a shortlist of three names being selected for the award, with Cox nominated alongside Warwickshire’s Jacob Bethell and Surrey’s Jamie Smith.

All contenders had to be under the age of 24 on 01 April this year to qualify for the shortlist, with the overall winner being announced at the PCA Awards ceremony in London on Tuesday 01 October.

Cox, 23, has scored 1,123 all-format runs in 2024 for Essex after moving from Kent, and was rewarded for his outstanding form with England call-ups in all formats throughout August and September.

The international recognition culminated in his Three Lions debut in the first T20I against Australia at Utilita Bowl in Southampton just under a fortnight ago.

Other awards to be announced on the night next week include the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year, as well as the Women’s Young Player of the Year.

The two PCA Umpires of the Year in both the men’s and the women’s game will also be revealed, as will the winners of the PCA Outstanding Contribution Award, the Rado Recognition Award, and the ECB Special Merit.
