Essex shortlisted for three Business of Cricket Awards

Essex have been shortlisted as finalists in three categories at the Business of Cricket Awards (BOCA). BOCA recognises and rewards First-Class Counties and MCC personnel who work tirelessly to show influence, insight and innovation, delivering an exceptional experience of cricket for its fans.

Essex shortlisted for three BOCAs

  • Sponsorship Campaign of the Year
  • Tickets or Memberships Sales & Marketing Campaign of the Year
  • Customer Retention Initiative of the Year

    Sponsorship Campaign of the Year

This award celebrates an innovative sponsorship campaign that delivers impactful and tangible results, and drives engagement.

Essex were shortlisted for the partnership with Metro Bank One Day Cup shirt sponsor, Ambassador Cruise Line. Throughout the competition, Ambassador Cruise Line received significant exposure both in-ground and via the Essex Cricket Live Stream.

The ‘Spin the Wheel’ competition allowed supporters the chance to win incredible prizes, whilst also providing entertainment for spectators in-person and online. In turn, Ambassador Cruise Line benefitted from an exceptional boost in brand awareness and exposure of their cricket-themed cruise.

    Finalists: Essex, Hampshire, Lancashire, Worcestershire.

Tickets or Memberships Sales & Marketing Campaign of the Year

This award celebrates an innovative, multi-faceted sales and marketing campaign aimed at driving advance ticket and/or membership sales for any of the men’s or women’s formats hosted.

Essex have made the finalists after a Vitality Blast campaign where Essex topped ground occupency charts, sold out two games before any other county and became the first county to surpass sales from 2023.

Building on a strong performance in 2023, 2024 brought an increase in ticket sales of 5.7%, selling 99% of available tickets and achieving complete sell outs in five out of seven T20s.

    Finalists: Essex, Gloucestershire, Derbyshire.

Customer Retention Initiative of the Year

This award is for a county initiative that drives year-on-year customer retention, of either members or ticket buyers.

In 2024 Essex continued to lead the way in customer retention, recording an increase of 4% to 52% overall. This is only the second time retention figures have exceeded 50% and sees Essex as comfortable leaders in this field.

    Finalists: Essex, Hampshire, Worcestershire.
