The Contenders
Jordan Cox
Cox started the season perfectly with a century against Surrey in the opening round of the Rothesay County Championship. He scored 117 from 148 balls from the innings against Surrey and has proven himself as a key batter in the Essex order.
In the field, Jordan has taken 5 catches, ending batting opportunities for top players.

Matt Critchley
Another centurion from the Surrey opening encounter, Critchley top scored with a brilliant 145*, as well as taking three wickets. The all-rounder followed up with a half-century and a wicket against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Jamie Porter
Porter has had a brilliant start to the season and produced a total of 14 wickets in April. The caught and bowled wicket against Worcestershire on the final day of the game at the end of the month was the winning wicket in the match.
The right-arm opening bowler will be eyeing up the top spot for Division One’s leading wicket-taker.

Paul Walter
Taking on a new role at the start of the 2025 season, Walter’s April was nothing short of fantastic. Starting with Surrey, the left-handed batter was agonisingly close to a century in the first innings when he lost his wicket for 95.
He accumulated a total of 317 runs in April including a match defining 104 against Worcestershire at Chelmsford.

Eva Gray
Gray started the season perfectly. The right-arm opening bowler claimed a five-wicket haul and her career-best figures of 5 for 62 in the opening home game against Warwickshire.
She produced a devastating burst of four wickets in ten balls that tore through the Bears’ top order.

Cordelia Griffith
The leading run-scorer in April for Essex Women, Griffith amassed 82 runs across two games, including a half-century against Warwickshire.
Her experience and knowledge of the game remain a key influence on the team.

Grace Scrivens
Essex Women’s Captain, Grace Scrivens, has hit the ground running with a total of 72 runs in the two matches in April. The total includes a well orchestrated half-century against Warwickshire in round two of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
