Warwickshire Women v Essex Women
Metro Bank One Day Cup
Edgbaston Community Sports Ground, Birmingham
Sunday 07 September | 10:30am start

Essex Women return to Metro Bank One Day Cup action this Sunday with a trip to Birmingham to face Bears Women at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground.
After the reduced match against Hampshire Women on Thursday, which ended in a 4-run defeat, the group led by Grace Scrivens travel to Birmingham to face the Bears.
Hampshire edged out Essex by four runs in a rain-reduced 17-over match in the Women’s Help For Heroes special fixture at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground.

Batting first, Hampshire posted 101-7 after a strong start from Maia Bouchier (31) and Freya Kemp (31) was undone by a middle-order collapse sparked by Esmae MacGregor (2-17).
Chasing 102, Essex struggled against disciplined bowling and sharp fielding. Freya Davies (2-15) and Bex Tyson (2-20) led the attack as Essex fell to 97-6, despite Sophie Munro’s unbeaten 28.
Key moments included Essex losing early wickets under pressure, several sharp catches and run-outs, and Davies striking late to seal the win, leaving Munro too much to do in the final over.
Hampshire remain leaders after a gritty low-scoring victory built on teamwork in the field.

Squad
A 14-player squad will travel to Birmingham on Saturday before Sunday’s match against the Bears Women.
Cordelia Griffith has been added to the squad from Thursday’s group that lost to Hampshire Women.

ICYMI: Sophie Munro

One of Our Own: Esmae MacGregor

Last Time We Met: Warwickshire Women (Bears)
Essex let a golden opportunity slip as Warwickshire recovered from 22 for 5 to hand them a 108-run defeat in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Previous Lineups
Essex: Grace Scrivens (C), Jo Gardner, Cordelia Griffith, Jodi Grewcock, Flo Miller, Lissy Macleod, Sophia Smale, Amara Carr (WK), Eva Gray, Sophie Munro, Kate Coppack.
Bears: Georgia Davis (C), Abbey Freeborn (WK), Sterre Kalis, Davina Perrin, Nat Wraith, Chloe Brewer, Em Arlott, Charis Pavely, Issy Wong, Katie George, Hannah Baker.
Eva Gray’s career-best 5 for 62, including a blistering four wickets in ten balls, had Warwickshire reeling, but 32 wides and dropped chances allowed Emily Arlott (130) to turn the game with two century stands. Despite bright contributions from Grace Scrivens (53) and Cordelia Griffith (72), Essex’s chase unraveled, losing four wickets for one run before being bowled out for 181.
For Essex, what began as a dominant display with the ball ended in frustration, as indiscipline and missed opportunities proved decisive.
Bears squad: To be announced….

Bears Preview
Coach: Ali Maiden
Captain: Georgia Adams
Player to watch: Off-spinner Davis has thoroughly vindicated her decision to quit the police for full-time cricket by rising into the England set-up. Just back from an England A tour to Australia, Birmingham-born Davis will be looking to captain her beloved Warwickshire to success and pile up wickets to advance her international career.
Young gun: Warwickshire will look to 18-year-old Perrin for big runs at the top of the order. The Wolverhampton-born batter is an exciting stroke-player and will take confidence from her productive England U19s World Cup campaign in Malaysia in January which earned her a late call up for the A Tour to Australia.
Final thought: Edgbaston has a big place in the history of women’s cricket. There is talent in the squad and much experience in the coaching set up with Ali Maiden (Head Coach), Darren Franklin (Assistant Coach) and Kabir Ali (Bowling Coach).
