Essex Cricket’s Simon Harmer has been named in the South African Test squad ahead of their upcoming tour to Pakistan.
The Pretoria-born 36-year-old has been included in the 16-player Proteas squad to face Pakistan in Lahore and Rawalpindi next month, as South Africa look to defend their ICC World Test Championship Mace.
A two-match Test series will commence at Lahore on October 12 before concluding at Rawalpindi, starting on October 20.
On Simon Harmer’s inclusion to the squad for the first time since 2023, Proteas Men’s Head Coach Shukri Conrad said: “Pakistan is one of the tougher places to tour, and with spin-friendly conditions expected and Keshav only available from the second game, it was important to have an experienced campaigner like Simon in the squad to provide extra depth in the spin department.”

1st Test: Pakistan v South Africa, 12-16 October 2025, Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
2nd Test: Pakistan v South Africa, 20-24 October 2025, Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
