Jordan Cox has been shortlisted for the Professional Cricketers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year award following a nationwide vote of professional players.
The shortlists for the 2025 PCA Awards in partnership with Toyota have been revealed, with the players across the England & Wales deciding which 14 individual standout performers have excelled over the last 12 months.
With players voting based on the outstanding individuals across domestic and international cricket, Warwickshire’s Ed Barnard is joined by Essex batter Jordan Cox, 2021 winner Joe Root and Surrey’s Dom Sibley on the Toyota PCA Men’s Player of the Year shortlist.
All shortlisted players have been voted for by their peers, with the four headline award winners revealed at Exhibition White City, London on Thursday 9 October.
Toyota PCA Men’s Player of the Year
Warwickshire’s all-rounder Barnard produced a standout 2025. The 29-year-old won the PCA Men’s Domestic Overall MVP award with 555.82 MVP points which highlights his fantastic all-round abilities this summer. Scoring an unbelievable 1,615 runs, including four hundreds, alongside taking 43 wickets, Barnard has been shortlisted for the second time at the PCA Awards.
Cox has amassed a mammoth 1,667 runs in the last 12 months, which included a new T20 career best, an unbeaten 139 off just 60 balls. The 24-year-old was named The Hundred Men’s Player of the Year, finishing the competition as the leading run-scorer.
Meanwhile, England’s all-time leading run-scorer and winner of the 2021 award, Root added another 1,920 international runs to his tremendous tally in the last 12 months. The 34-year-old added career bests of 262 in Tests, alongside an unbeaten 166 in ODIs.
Opener Sibley was once again the rock of Surrey’s line-up, scoring an impressive 1,501 runswith four centuries, which included a new career best of 305. The 30-year-old finished the season as the leading run-scorer in County Championship Division One with an average of 60.
