Jordan Cox named PCA Men’s Player of the Year

Essex County Cricket Club are thrilled to share that Jordan Cox has been named the 2025 Toyota PCA Men’s Player of the Year.

Essex Cricket’s Jordan Cox has won the headline award of PCA Men’s Player of the Year for his outstanding performances throughout the 2025 season, becoming the first Essex player to claim the honour since Stuart Law in 1999.

Jordan’s phenomenal season saw him return to the England IT20 side and receive a call up to the England Lions squad for their tour to Australia this winter, as he amassed a total of 1,667 runs over the last 12 months.

Cox, 24, enjoyed a stellar year across all formats, scoring 695 runs in 14 Division One innings at an average of 53.46, including three centuries. His Blast campaign was highlighted by a match-winning unbeaten 139 from just 60 balls against Hampshire at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground. In white-ball cricket this season, including The Hundred, he amassed a total of 764 runs at a highly impressive average of 47.75.

The right-handed batter completed a PCA treble at the awards ceremony – alongside his Player of the Year trophy, Cox was also named The Hundred Men’s Player of the Year and earned selection in the IG PCA Men’s Team of the Year.

Other nominees for the Men’s PCA Player of the Year included England’s all-time leading Test run-scorer Joe Root, Warwickshire all-rounder Ed Barnard, and Surrey’s opening batter Dom Sibley.

Toyota PCA Men’s Player of the Year, Cox said: “It’s an honour, for the players to vote for me, when it’s your peers and your teammates that really means the world.

“I was pleased how I went in all formats and it’s nice to get your first ever T20 hundred, that was an amazing evening, but in The Hundred I was consistent which I really enjoyed, I love it, it’s my favourite competition and to play at the Oval in front of a packed crowd every single time was very cool.

“My favourite moment of the year was taking my chance and scoring an international half century. It’s probably why I got selected to go to New Zealand, which means a lot. On the Lions trip I want to show the selectors I’m capable of playing Test cricket.

“I’ve got a crazy busy winter and there’s a T20 World Cup coming up so hopefully if I continue performing I might get a chance.”

Everyone at Essex County Cricket Club congratulates Jordan for this massive achievement and we are all extremely proud of him!
