
Seam bowler Jamal Richards and wicket-keeper batter Adam Rossington will leave Essex County Cricket Club upon the conclusion of their contracts at the end of this month.
Richards, 21, has featured on 24 occasions for the Club in competitive fixtures since his first team debut against Derbyshire in 2022.
Born in Edmonton, London, Jamal joined the Essex Academy in 2016 at the age of 11 before progressing through the age groups.
In 2021, the right-handed bowler and batter made his Second XI debut where he played 12 games, taking nine wickets from them.
Richards has nine England Under 19s appearances in which he scored 144 runs and took four wickets.
He made his Essex first team debut in 2022 in the One Day Cup against Derbyshire before making hist first-class debut in 2023 against Ireland at Chelmsford. Against Ireland, Jamal took his maiden professional five-wicket haul which included the scalps of captain Andrew Balbirnie and Paul Stirling.
At the start of the 2025 season, Richards joined Kent on a short-term loan to play against Middlesex at Lord’s in Division Two – scoring 43 runs in the second innings.
Rossington, 32, has made 68 appearances for the Club since his debut in 2022.
Born in Edgware, Middlesex, Adam initially joined Essex on loan from Northamptonshire in 2022, before making the move permanent to Chelmsford.
In his first season, he produced a match-winning innings at Hove, helping secure a 28-run victory over Sussex in the Vitality T20 Blast. Opening the batting, the right-hander smashed 95 from 50 balls, including ten fours and five sixes.
As a wicketkeeper-batter, Rossington was a key member of both the red and white-ball squads, and he was awarded his County Cap in 2023.
