Essex Cricket and Help For Heroes Raise Over £6,000

Essex Cricket is proud to announce that the Help for Heroes fundraising campaign bowled over expectations, raising an impressive £6,215.16 with the help from our Principle Partner Ambassador Cruise Line.

A huge victory off the field, this remarkable achievement is a testament to the generosity of our supporters and partners, whose contributions have helped provide vital funds for the Help for Heroes charity.

On Sunday 24 August, Essex Men hosted Gloucestershire Men in a standout Metro Bank One Day Cup fixture to support Help for Heroes, the charity dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. The special day featured themed activities, an 80-person choir, fundraising opportunities, a limited edition shirt and recognition of Armed Forces personnel and veterans.

As part of the Club’s ongoing partnership with Principal Partner Ambassador Cruise Line, the occasion was marked with a commemorative shirt, specially designed to raise awareness and funds for the charity. The limited edition shirt was kindly supported by Ambassador Cruise Line who helped fund the branding costs on the shirt as a donation to Help for Heroes.

The commemorative shirt was also worn by Essex Women on Thursday 04 September when they played Hampshire Women in a thrilling Metro Bank One Day Cup clash. The fixture was the penultimate home match of the Women’s domestic campaign and reflected the Club’s continued commitment, alongside Ambassador Cruise Line, to supporting Help for Heroes across both men’s and women’s cricket.

All shirts which were issued to players and worn throughout both matches were auctioned via MatchWornShirt.com with proceedings going to Help for Heroes, as Essex Cricket’s Official Clothing Partner, Surridge, donated the shirts for the auction. Replica shirts were also available to purchase at the Essex Cricket Store and due to unprecedented demand an additional pre-order offer was issued.

Help for Heroes provides a range of physical, mental and welfare support for veterans and their families, from any branch of the UK military; regulars or reserves, irrespective of length or place of service and locally embedded civilians who worked under the command of UK Armed Forces. The charity also actively campaigns for lasting improvements to the support available for veterans. Click here to find out more.

Essex County Cricket Club extends its sincere thanks to everyone who donated and supported our fundraising efforts in aid of Help for Heroes.
