The 2026 Rothesay County Championship fixtures have today been confirmed, alongside the men’s and women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Essex Men will kickstart their red-ball campaign with an away trip to Hampshire Men at the Utilita Bowl on Friday 03 April before a clash against Somerset in front of a home crowd at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground on Friday 10 April.
For Chris Silverwood’s men, the Rothesay County Championship will conclude in Cardiff at the Sophia Gardens on Thursday 27 September after playing the final home fixture of the 2026 season on Tuesday 15 September against Warwickshire.
The 2026 Rothesay County Championship will be played in three blocks of matches – with each county playing a total of 14 matches. Each county will play six matches during the first seven-week block, with all matches during that period starting on a Friday.
A mid-summer block of two games will be staged in June – with each county playing twice. The third block of matches begins on 20 August with each county playing six matches to complete the season. The final round begins on 24 September.

Men’s Metro Bank One Day Cup
Essex Men begin the Metro Bank One Day Cup with an away trip to Radlett to face Middlesex on Tuesday 21 July before facing Derbyshire Falcons at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground on Sunday 26 July.
The group, led by captain Tom Westley, will finish the 50-over tournament at Chelmsford against Anthony McGrath’s Yorkshire on Tuesday 11 August before a lengthy away trip up north to the Banks Homes Riverside to face Durham on Sunday 09 August.
The groups for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup Men’s Competition were randomly drawn, with each county playing each county in their group once.
Group A: Gloucestershire, Kent Spitfires, Lancashire, Leicestershire Foxes, Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Notts Outlaws, Somerset, Surrey, Warwickshire.
Group B: Derbyshire Falcons, Durham, Essex, Glamorgan, Hampshire, Middlesex, Sussex Sharks, Worcestershire Rapids, Yorkshire.
The three Metro Bank One-Day Cup finals will be staged over the same weekend (September 19-20).

Women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup
Like the Essex Men, the Essex Women begin their season at the Utilita Bowl. Grace Scrivens’ squad face Hampshire on Saturday 11 April before travelling to the Banks Homes Riverside four days later to meet Durham.
Their first home appearance of the 2026 season at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground is scheduled for 18 April, when they are set to face Warwickshire.
Essex Women’s final Metro Bank One Day Cup fixture is set to be played at Chesterfield on Friday 11 September, two days after they host Yorkshire at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground on Wednesday, which will be their final home game of the 2026 season.
The Metro Bank One-Day Cup Women’s Competition final will again be hosted by the Utilita Bowl in Southampton on Saturday 19 September. On the following day both the Metro Bank One-Day Cup Men’s Final (Trent Bridge) and Metro Bank One-Day Cup Women’s League 2 Final (Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol) are scheduled to be played.
