Essex Cricket in the Community can confirm the 2026 fixtures for the Essex Ability teams.
This season Essex’s four teams will be competing in the D40 Quest, D40 Pursuit and Super 9s competition. With a mixed bag of results and final league standings last season, all teams will be heading into the season with one aim - bring as many trophies as possible back to Essex.
D40 cricket is part of the ECB’s national hardball offer. The games are identical in laws and regulations as mainstream county cricket. The competition matches are 40 overs a side. Within the D40 competition, there are two leagues. The D40 Quest League is the premier competition, where the top counties battle it out for the championship. The D40 Pursuit League is the secondary competition where the winners will secure promotion to the D40 Quest League. This season, the Essex Hawks will be looking to top the D40 Quest League and Essex Falcons have their eyes on becoming D40 Pursuit champions.
The Essex Kestrels will be looking for revenge in the Super 9s League where they finished second last season. Super 9s cricket is the first step into elite disability cricket. The matches are played with 30-over innings and uses an incrediball. Our final team, the Essex & Herts Stags is a newer team made up of Essex and Hertfordshire players. They will be joining the Super 9s League alongside the Essex Kestrels, with the two sides facing each other in their season opener.
If you are interested in joining one of our squads or any opportunities within disability cricket, please contact County Squad Manager Patrick Ward here.
