
Essex Cricket can reveal the shortlist for May’s Player of the Month for the Men’s and Women's teams.
May saw three different formats being played for the two teams with the Vitality Blast T20 competition beginning. The squads saw nine out of thirteen wins between them and countless unmissable moments.
We've selected eight players from across the two teams who have given stand out performances this month but we want to know who's impressed you! CHARLIE ALLISON
Charlie has impressed this month with the bat. The right-handed batter is May's top run scorer with 225 runs. Against Leicestershire, Allison made 72 runs in the first innings. His second half-century came in Essex's win against Derbyshire Falcons where he scored 67 not out and hit the winning ball out of the ground for six. The 21-year-old hit 33 boundaries across the four games he was involved with.

SIMON HARMER
Simon has consistently shown that he is a force to be reckoned with. The spinner has not only a half century this month but nine wickets as well. Five of these wickets came in the win against Hampshire helping the team secure the win at home. To top it off, he hit 80* in 118 balls. In the Vitality Blast T20, Harmer lead his team to two wins including the away leg of our local rivals Kent.

MICHAEL PEPPER
Michael has not only been a key wicket taker this month, but also an important batsman. Pepper has taken ten wickets in four games, 8 catches, a stumping and a run out. Three of these catches were in the second innings of the win against Hampshire in the County Championship. Michael has hit two half centuries in the Vitality Blast T20 with 52 off 34 against Sussex Sharks and 64 off 40 against Kent Spitfires.

JAMIE PORTER
Jamie's contributions to the wins against Hampshire and Leicestershire were brilliant! Porter has averaged a bowling economy of 2.60 across 59 overs bowled in the two games. He's also taken six wickets, bowling Lehmann out twice and taking four wickets in the Leicestershire match. We also can't forget the incredible 52 runs Jamie made securing his maiden half-century.

AMARA CARR
Amara has been unstoppable behind the stumps this month. Fifteen wicket involvements for our wicketkeeper. In all bar one match, Carr has contributed to minimum of two wickets. Six run outs, five catches and four stumpings. Carr's stumping of Fackrell at Headlingly lead to the win for the Women's side.

EVA GRAY
Eva is this month's top wicket taker for the Women's side. In six games, she's taken 12 wickets with an average bowling economy of 6.30. Gray has a formidable presence when she's on the field, bowling out four opponents and setting up six key catches for her teammates to take, including claiming the wicket of former Eagles Lauren Winfield-Hill and Maddie Penna.

CORDELIA GRIFFITH
Cordelia has dominated with the bat this month. An impressive 248 runs off 272 balls across the six games she batted in. The right-hand batter hit three half-centuries this month. Two in the One Day Cup against Yorkshire and Lancashire and the third against Warwickshire in the opening match of the Vitality Blast T20. Across the month, Cordelia hit 37 boundaries with 34 fours and 3 sixes.

GRACE SCRIVENS
Grace has had a great month with both bat and ball. The captain has made 208 runs off just 222 balls including 32 boundaries. Her highest run count was 74 came at home against Lancashire, she then went onto score another half century in a T20 away at Headingly. Grace has taken eight wickets this month, getting her opponents out in a variety of ways. On top of her own wickets, Scrivens has also contributed to four wickets through catches and run outs.
