Essex Cricket are happy to share that Essex Women's all-rounder Bryony Gillgrass has signed a new contract with the Club.
Having originally signed a short-term deal in the summer, the 19-year-old has now completed a rookie deal which will keep her at Essex until the end of the 2028 season.
Gillgrass joins Essex on a permanent basis after progressing through the Warwickshire Women’s academy and previously representing Worcestershire Women in Tier Two.
On signing her new contract, Gillgrass, said: "I am really excited and proud to be signing with Essex for the next two seasons after really enjoying my time at Chelmsford this summer.
"Everyone has made me feel really welcome, and I can't wait to see the team progress and move forward through the winter. Hopefully we will have a really exciting season next year.
"I can't wait to get see how far this group of girls can go."
The all-rounder made 14 appearances for Essex Women in the 2026 season, with her debut coming at Castle Park, Colchester, in the Vitality County Cup. A handy option with the ball, Gillgrass has taken 6 wickets for the Club, with best figures of 2-26 coming against Somerset.
At the end of September, Gillgrass was named in England Women’s Under-19 squads for both the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup and the series against India.
Alongside fellow Essex teammates Amelie Bishop and Clara Thaker, Gillgrass will represent England Under-19s in a five-match T20 series against India in November and December, ahead of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Nepal and Bangladesh.
Essex Women’s Assistant Coach and Batting Lead, Nick Browne, added: “I have really enjoyed working with Bryony during the 2026 season. She is developing her game with both bat and ball at a rapid rate which is incredibly exciting.
“This is also reflected in the fact that she has received an England Under 19s call-up for this winter. It’s fantastic that her performances and development have not only been recognised at Essex but beyond.
"We are delighted that her short-term deal has transitioned into a permanent one and I am sure we will see match winning performances from her in the coming years."
